Last Saturday the 15th of November saw the first ever BSC Bodyboard Demo Day take part at Narrabeen on Sydney’s northern beaches. Around 50 frothing participants turned up to sample over 100 boards from 16 of the best bodyboard manufacturers in the business. Dave Winchester, Chris James, Dallas Singer, Mitch Rawlins, Ben Player, Alex Bunting, Michael Novy, Jose, Max and many more professional riders were on hand to provide demonstrations and enjoy some fun 2-3 foot peaks with the participants. Groms and the older generation both jumped at the chance to pull a brand new signature model board out of its wrapping, wax it up and ride it alongside the very pro who designed it! A good time was had by all who attended and all the pros are amped at the prospect of doing it all again this weekend on the Gold Coast. Last Sunday the first ever Maroubra Bodyboard Club versus Sydney Bodyboard Club contest was  held at Whale beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. Dozens of competitors from both clubs, as well as spectators turned out to witness some high quality bodyboarding in some fun 2 foot peaks. The competition was fierce but always in good spirit and the final results saw SBC come out on top. Congratulations to all the SBC team members and MBB competitors for a great day of bodyboarding! We hope this event becomes an annual fixture!

WBA FINAL 2008 EVENT SUNDOWNER TIONA NOVEMBER 15-16

The final WBA event of the year will be held 15-16 November at Sundowner

THE JOKER II

It’s been 4 years since Damian king released ‘the Joker’. ‘The Joker’ was a movie that had such an impact, and was always going to be hard to match. “ I didn’t want to rush into a sequel and produce something I wasn’t happy with” Kingy said. That said King has spent his time patiently working on ‘The Joker II’, getting this film to a level he is happy with.

“ Finally the Joker II is ready and I can’t wait for people to see it. It’s completely different to the first one, but very similar in a lot of ways as well. I have been under the radar making this film and it’s time to show you what I have been up to. There’s no point talking it up, it speaks for itself.”

The Joker II is set to premiere late November at limited venues seen blow. There will be plenty of give aways and tickets include the final Version of the film.

Australia Largest Bodyboard Demo Days!

Proudly Organised by the Crew at BSC, 16 of Australia’s Leading Bodyboard Board Brands come together for Australia’s Largest Board Demo Day.

The demo days will be held at Narrabeen on Saturday 15th November and then at Coolangatta , Dbah Beach on Saturday 22nd November 2008.
The days activities will commence at 8am.

You are invited to attend and test ride all boards throughout the day (there will be more than 80 different models to test!).

All Test Riders must register either prior to or on the day at any BSC store, or at the BSC Tent on the day. All under 18’s are required to have parent or legal guardian authorise their test ride.

This is a FREE and fun event for all!

A Large contingent of Pro Riders including: Dave Winchester, Chris James, Dallas Singer, Nick Ormerod, Ryan Hardy, Michael Novy, Ben Player, Damian King, John Showell, Jake Stone, Alex Bunting and more will be on hand at each demo day with plenty of helpful demonstrations and tips.

Come along and test ride your dream board! The following brands will be attending: NMD, LMNOP, VS, Morey, BZ, Manta, 4Play, Elit, Hydro, Science, Pride, Number 6, Toys, Turbo, Nomad, Number 6, Custom X and more!.

How it all works.

Check into the BSC marshaling tent where you can register on the day or ask any questions you might have. All registered Test Riders will be given a wristband.

Each Bodyboard Company will have their own tent set up on the beach - within their tent you will find the company’s test boards and team riders on hand.
Board testing will be held every 20mins.
Demonstrations from the pros held every hour.
There will be music and a free BBQ for all participants!

BSC Bodyboard Demo Day Rego Forms

The man known as grizzler has taken a pause from Roaming the globe to sit down with Shane from Nomad Bodyboards and extend his contract for a further two years. The duo were totally syked at the prospect with big plans in the works from the Nomad stables for 2009 and Chris thrilled to be a part of them. “I’m frothing to re-sign with the company that in my mind is pushing the envelope the furthest in the bodyboarding industry at the moment. With projects like the Roam series and a real tight bond between the team riders it seems like Nomad is doing real positive, progressive things for the sport - plus the boards they’re producing are easily the best i’ve ever ridden!”.

Chris is a wanted man at the moment - also recently signing with fashion label Iamnone. Chris is equally stoked to be riding for a clothing company that produce the sort of clothes he actually wants to wear and are bringing bodyboarding into the public eye - demonstrating what a creative and inspired group we are.  Chris will be styling the new Summer range when it lands in the next month - so keep your eyes peeled!

World Champion bodyboarder Kira Llewellyn is BSC’s newest recruit. A girl who has done more for the sport of Women’s bodyboarding than just about anyone, Kira is constantly winning comps and surfing at a level that continually raises the bar for the rest of the girls on the world tour. We’re stoked to have Kira aboard and we look forward to seeing her realise all her bodyboarding dreams in the future!

Mexico was pretty cool. Puerto didnt deliver the best waves so we spent most of our time surfing/shooting at a place called Punta Colerado. Fun spot.

We got Puerto 8 to 10 foot a few days. It was a funky swell direction so it was rare to make a barrel. Nick was having dramas shooting on those bigger days with the amount of mist that clouded the beach. We had an interesting time in Mexico city at the start of the trip - almost going to jail then only a couple hours later finding ourselves in the middle of a brawl which turned into a gun fight. The country is fucked really. So corrupt and wild. The city was especialy hecitc and I was glad to be able to spend a few days there to check it out and see the madness for myself.

Upon departure to Mexico, I happily ran away from a morbidly obese amount of TAFE assignments. I have now returned to have them dropped on my nuts… so im just pumping them out and freeing up my time as quick as I can.I hope the BSC crew are happy and healthy.
