“I AM NONE” or “WE ARE WHOLE”

The guys at I Am None sure are an artistic bunch of chaps. The brain children behind it are Todd Barnes & Dav Fox, whom are also famous though the Liberteen Ranch Parties as well as numerous film projects: such as Thrash, Thrash’d & the ever so classic “VIDEO” which featured a much younger Chris James as well as a pretty incredible BP Section.
All films aside-the Winter Range from these lads is tight knit and definately up to scratch in the trendy department!! Jeans, Tee’s, Hoods etc…
BSC have heaps of the new gear available to buy in-store or online at www.bodyboarders.com.au

Lackey in Cloud Nine…

With the anticipation leading into the release of his first feature film, BSC Team Rider Matt Lackey has certainly been living in Cloud Nine: and im not just talking about his daily job of keeping the tourists safe from any trouble in the water atop his Lifeguard Tower in Kirra(Matt has a very good set of eyes).
Instead he has recently found some old footage from a trip he did to the Philippines a few years back with the Nomad Team.

Few years ago I booked a ’round the world ticket with the Nomad team, with first stop being Cloud Nine in the Philippines.
For me it was a dream come true. I had a picture of Cloud Nine on my school book right back in primary school, and since then I’ve always wanted to surf the place. I needed to get it good. I couldn’t go there and not get waves, but on arrival hearing that there hadn’t been waves there in the past six weeks I was losing hope fast. The maps didn’t look promising either and after four days into the trip and not seeing a wave over 1-ft, I was starting to get worried.

It wasn’t until around the sixth day we woke up to the sound of waves, that sound didn’t stop for the next five days! It was a dream come true for sure; just barrels and ramps for five days straight.

I was cleaning out an old room when I came across a CD with “Philos-Matt” written on it. The thing was sitting in an old shoe box, and turns out it was bunch of footage a guy shot while on holidays there with his wife. I dumped it into Final Cut and threw a quick edit together for you. - Matt Lackey

Dear Diary….by Adrian Harper

Hey Everyone,

Here’s a little wrap up from my trip up to the Gold Coast last week.

So Max Arent, filmer Will Hodgett & I left Tuesday and headed North on our way to the Gold Coast, the charts showed that there was a good swell and wind combo about to hit-and Straddie was looking to be all time.We stopped off in Port Macquarie for a little surf at North Wall, scored a few fun waves-but we were on a tight schedule so it was back on the road ASAP.By 8pm on Tuesday night we had finally made it to the Gold Coast, we stayed the night with photographer Matt Ryan. The next morning we got up and headed to Straddie with high hopes, only to find a packed car park and onshore wind. The vibes were terrible, but we hung and around because an afternoon change of offshore winds was predicted. Around 1pm we paddled over to find perfect pits and bowls. We pretty much surfed until it got dark…Next day once again we headed to Straddie, only to find about 500 people surfing it. So we jumped back in the car in search for somewhere less crowded. After an hour or so we ended up surfing the Reef, near Kingscliff. It was fun but nothing special. After a little hour surf we came back to find our car had been broken into and all our phones and wallets stolen. Pretty much turned into the worst day ever, after filing a police report it was back to Matts place where we decided to cut our losses and head home.On the way down we spoke to Chris James who said Newy looked like it would be good tomorrow, so we headed there and stayed the night at his.Next morning we got up and headed down to try some tow outs with Chris and Wilo’s ski. Unfortunately the conditions were not perfect which made it very hard for tow outs. But it was a good experience. After that it was off to a little secret wave were we scored some nice pits, it was easily the highlight of the trip. Kind of a good way to end a fair negative trip.

BSC Team: We Are The Champions

Over the last few weeks, a handful of the BSC Team Riders have been donning the comp rashies all over the place and coming home with the goods!! Gold Coast Team Riders Conor Nelson & Jordan Putland recently competed in the 2nd QLD State Round held at Dicky Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Conor came 4th in Juniors whilst Jordan took out 1st Place in the same division.  Thats now two in a row for Jordan leaving him well clear of anyone else in the charge to take out the overall State Title.

NSW recently held their 2nd State Round in Port Macquarie with BSC Team Rider Guy Williment heading up from Sydney to take on some of the local boys. Not to disappoint either, Guy went home with a 4th Place in Juniors as well as a 3rd Place in the Opens Division-coming out in front of Port Macquarie Favorite Chase O’Leary….amazing effort!!

The Lackey Project

Who ever said Dropknee was dead? I can tell you who didnt say it: Matt Lackey! In the modern era of the “Jack Stance”, Matt Lackey aka “King Creep” has been flying the flag very high for many years now. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Paul Roach & Raffi Meyer, Matt has a unique style that incorporates style & power.  Over the last few years, Matt has had some significant video sections in such hits as the Roam Series-however didnt feel like he was getting the message across enough-so over the last 12 months, he has been working on his first feature film: The Lackey Project, which is all about DK!! Matt see’s this film as a realization/eye opener for all bodyboarders  to hopefully start boosting its profile back to where it once was. Stay tuned for release dates: in the meantime, enjoy some shots as well as the trailer!!

Shift Work: Kev Gil

34083_130513136989129_100000913294819_152666_7886474_n

BSC Super-Teen Kev Gil has been putting in the hours of late. In his first year out of High School the lanky framed heartbreaker has been working just as hard as he surfs: and the results are showing. Over the last few months-the BSC Inbox has been overflowing with shots of Kev from a handful of photographers and locations, in particular Jye McDonald & a certain Wegde on the Northern NSW Coast. The Team at  Network Video may just have to find another employee soon enough if the waves continue to deliver…
