Winny wins in Chile!!

acc-dave-e-amaury

Congratulations to BSC team rider Dave Winchester who has just WON the Arica Chilean Challenge! The Arica challenge is the benchmark competition for high performance bodyboarding on the World Tour today and Dave has opened his grand slam title conquest in fine style. Lets hope he can continue this brilliant run for the remainder of the year!

WINCHESTER WINS ARICA

BSC Team Rider Dave Winchester was crowned champion of the Arica Chilean Challenge 2010 on Sunday. With a sensational performance Dave beat Amaury Laverhne, capturing his first victory on IBA World Tour. With a perfect 10 and 9.75, Dave was almost unbeatable, scoring 19.75 points out of possible 20 and picking up 2000 points on IBA World Ranking in the process.

Final day conditions were perfect with 6-8 feet waves. In the last heat of ACC 2010 Dave showed all of his style & power. On his second wave, Dave did a huge aerial reverse that earned him 9.75 of the judges, leaving Amaury in combination situation. However, the best was yet to come.

A few minutes from the end, the Australian got a nice right, smashed off a massive air rollo and completed the perfect wave.

“Last year I was third and I want to win here. This is my first victory on tour and this is very special. I was competing like it was a free surf. I missed the first event in Pipeline, which was also a Grand Slam, so now I’ll have to run to enter in title race”, said Winchester.

In second place Amaury Lavehrne received 1720 points and still in first position on IBA World Ranking. This was Amaury´s second final in a Grand Slam event in 2010.

“I’m very happy. This was my best result in Arica and I’m happy to still be in first place. What Dave did in the final was incredible, I could not react. I am happy and now I ready to go to Peru, “said Amaury referring to next World Tour event.

“This was one of the best events in history. The level was very high, with great waves and a structure that deserves the status of a Grand Slam. Arica is an example to all events. The competitors showed a very high level “, said Chico Garritano, IBA Head Judge
.

This week the IBA World Tour goes to Peru, where between May 26th-30th the second edition of Peruvian Inka Challenge will take place. The event will be the fifth stop on the Men’s world tour and will offer 1000 points on IBA World Ranking

Kev Gil-The Friendly Giant

Kev Gil has been apart of the BSC Team for over 12 Months now. A prodigy of the long hair generation, Kev has stood out amongst the crowd due to his quiet nature in & out of the water. Coming in at close to 6′3″, its pretty hard to miss him. Kev lives in Varsity Lakes, which is just across the highway from his surfing partner & best mate Tom Rigby.

When Tom isn’t off competing on the IBA World Tour, these two guys surf everywhere together, and the level of talent is hard to tell apart at times.

Keep an eye out for a GoPro HD Clip coming soon featuring both BSC Team Riders: Kev Gil & Tom Rigby

Winny through to the top 16 round at Arica!

Winny through to the top 16 round at Arica!
After an amazing day of competition in Chile that saw competitors faced with waves in the 8-10 foot range, BSC’s Dave Winchester has made it through to the Man on Man stage after an epic tussle with Hawaiian Jeff  Hubbard. Winny faces off against reigning champ Mike Stewart in his round 6 heat! A very notable mention also goes to team rider and young gun Tom Rigby, who just missed out on making Round Six… Tom is really starting to prove himself as a force to be reckoned with on the global competition stage. Remaining Aussies in the comp are Ryan Hardy, Ben Player, Jake Stone and of course Dave Winchester… More at ibaworldtour.com

GoPro HD

The new GoPro HD is worth every cent, capturing full 1080p HD Video as well as capturing crystal clear 5MP Stills. One of the better features of this camera is the option of shooting at 30fps-which means you can watch your footage in Super-Slow Motion.
The GoPro HD comes pre-packed with a board mount which can be fitted in a few easy steps. Also available in-store are Helmet & Tripod Mounts.

BSC Gold Coast Staff have been hitting the water of late putting the GoPro HD to the test: Check out the shot below from Zak & Ben

Jimmy Williamson-Tales from SA

BSC Team Rider Jimmy Williamson recently returned from a last minute trip to South Australia, with good friend & photographer Jack Sheard…
Not to let too much out of the bag just yet, but lets just say the boys scored it good!!
Besides the waves, the boys put their hire car to the test against a Kangaroo as well going toe to toe with some of the heavy locals.

Check out the shots below-this is just a sample of what they scored!!

World Bodyboards 2011 Range

The staff from BSC Gold Coast & Narrabeen headed deep into the industrial streets of Sydney earlier this week to meet up with the guys from World Bodyboards to see the 2011 Range.
Set to hit the shelves within the next few months, we can comfortably say first-hand that this is one of their most impressive ranges to date.
BSC Team Rider-Joe Clarke’s release with VS, as well as Jase Finlay’s models with Morey are really just the tip of the iceburg.
This season, the team at World have worked really hard of refining their current shapes as well as releasing some tight new pieces to the collection as well.
Their 3D Core(Triple Density Core Technology) which is now in its second year has been tinkered after taking into consideration the feedback they’ve received from all their riders.
Finally-a big shout out to Julio, Dylan, Jose & the rest of the crew at World for simply doing what they do best!!

GET INTO BSC GOLD COAST & NARRABEEN TODAY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON A NEW “3D” CORE BOARD.

Yeah Coots…

BSC Junior Team Rider Jordan Putland is one rider to definately keep an eye on out in the water. At the ripe old age of 17, “Coots” has been making a big name for himself on the Gold Coast, for his style and power in every kind of wave.
Not only is his free-surfing impeccable -but also his comp skills. So far for 2010, he has inked some good results in both local & state rounds.
GCBC Round #4 is on at Flatrock, Currumbin tomorrow which is his home break….get down there to check it out!!
