Me and Gabi got an amazing opportunity to help out the kids at the local foster home with presents for christmas, amazing eye opener for me, these kids have nothing, but they’re the most stoked kids ive seen….. humbling.

They were amped on the presents, i got them soccer balls (brazil/kids/soccerball…not to hard) hahahaaa plus a bunch of other board games ect, they were amped….

Going to head back before i head to hawaii and dump a whole bunch of chocolate on their doorstep.

Eric Bana ( Hulk, Chopper to name a few) dropped into our Narrabeen store today for some Christmas shopping. BSC Team & Staff member Dave Winchester was quick to jump in and fit him out with a new board. You never know who you will see at BSC.

Dave Hubbard - No.1 in the World & Voted No.1 by his Peers

Custom X congratulates team rider Dave “Dubb” Hubbard for his outstanding achievements in the water in 2008.

Dubb is currently ranked No.2 in both the Mens Pro and DK Pro in the USBA tour rankings, proving his versatility in the water, and this week has been crowned the 2008 Drop Knee World Champion following the final event at El Confital in the Canary Islands. This was Dave’s third World Championship title after claiming victory in 1995/96.

Continuing his success in 2008, Dubb has also received another fantastic accolade, being voted the 2008 Riptide DK Peer Poll winner. The Riptide Peer Poll is a prestigious award voted by 40 of bodyboarding’s elite riders to judge who they believe is currently leading the way in the water. Dave has won previously in 2006 and has come to prominence again this year with his fantastic comp record, versatility both prone and drop knee, and incredible free surfing.

Well after the BSC board demo in Cooly (which was insane by the way, if i were a 12 year old grom i probably would of had the best day of my life at that promo) Port Stephens Bodyboard club had their end of year presentation. It was another year with its ups and downs, downs being the 3 comps we had to cancel due to weather and waves, but on the up side we had one of the best comps in the clubs five year history last month with a clean 5-6ft east swell at box beach. Some kids that stood out in the conditions were young chaps Jacob Lee (eventual AAA overall winner) and Beau Earl, both making the final on the day. Tarnee Sams also deserves some credit for his division A overall win and his award for the years most outstanding rider, he also put together a short clip of the last contest on vimeo which you can check out on http://vimeo.com/2383967

Its great to see the club strengthening every year due the the young members love for the sport, Big Thanks to BSC for their continued support over the past couple of years, you guys have been a huge part of bodyboarding in the Nelson Bay area.

As for me, im off to Hawaii in feb and really looking forward to getting back there, got a good crew together there too which always makes for a fun trip. During Jan im heading too SA to hopefully score some waves and escape the summer flat spells im experiencing here. As Tom said earlier THRASH prems start this week so ill be seeing the Goldy BSC crew at the friday night prem no dout, really looking forward to it as i know Barnsey’s doesnt do anything in halves and im sure this is going to be his best work to date.

Uri Valadao 2008 IBA World Champion!!!

The new IBA World Champion Uri Valadao

In one of the closest fought title races in IBA history, Brazilians Uri Valadao and Neymara Carvalho have won the IBA Men’s & Women’s World Championship.

Ratings leader Guilherme Tamega and outsider Pierre Louis Costes’ both fell early in the day and the race was reduced to two riders.

Ben Player was looking to secure his third World title but had to finish ahead of Valadao to earn enough points.

When Uri made the final in semi 1 the spotlight went onto Ben and he struggled to find the waves that would allow him to do the moves that get the big points.

As the minutes ticked down to seconds it was evident that Uri was going to be the new World Champion and his friends and fellow countrymen all gathered around him,

When the hooter sounded he was lifted high with his new IBA World Champion cup pointed to the sky.

Congratulations to BSC Team Rider Dave Winchester who finished 12th over all in the world tour!
